Crochet stitch pattern - Rice stitch

Rice stitch is a thick and sturdy stitch. It would work well in thermal wear and pot holders. It might be too stiff for a blanket, though, with a larger hook than the yarn requires, it would be more flowy.

Abbreviations:


Chain multiple of 2 +1

  1. Dc in the fourth ch from the hook and in each ch across, turn.

  2. Ch 2 (counts as hdc here and throughout), skip the first st, FPdc in the next st, *BPdc in the next st, FPdc in the next st; repeat from * across, hdc in the top of the turning-ch-2, turn.

Repeat Row 2 until you reach a desired length.
