Knitting abbreviation Patt stands for pattern. It is a written or graphed depiction of a project. Written patterns use knitting terminology to guide you towards a finished item. They are often broken up into sections to give the instructions more structure and make it easier to follow. They might also contain graphs for lace, cables and/or colour work. Graphs are made with knitting symbols on a grid. Each line on a grid represents a row/round. The lines are read differently from regular reading. If knitting back and forth in rows, odd lines are read right to left and even lines are read left to right. when knitting in a round, you will read every line from right to left.
