Knitting abbreviation PM stands for place marker. This comes up when you work repeats or blocks of pattern over multiple rows/rounds. It saves you the trouble of counting stitches every row/round. To place a marker, slip it onto the right-hand needle when you reach the indicated spot and carry on knitting as normal.
