Knitting abbreviation K stands for knit. It is one of the most basic and fundamental stitches. All knitting contains knit and/or purl stitches and their variations.
To work a knit stitch, insert the right-hand needle into the stitch on the left-hand needle through the front loop with the right needle pointing to the right and away from you, wrap the yarn around the right-hand needle and pull it through the loop and slide the worked stitch off the left-hand needle, leaving a new stitch on the right-hand needle.
