Knit is one of the most basic and fundamental stitches. All knitting contains knit and/or purl stitches and their variations.

To work a knit stitch insert the right hand needle into the stitch on the left hand needle through the front loop with the right needle pointing to the right and away from you, wrap the yarn around the right hand needle and pull it through the loop sliding the worked stitch off the left hand needle, leaving a new stitch on the right hand needle.
